Which skill tree works when?
| Discipline | Available phase | How new options become available |
|---|---|---|
| Swordmastery | Day and night | Learn techniques from manuals found or bought in the world |
| Witchcraft | Day | Find magical knowledge in ruins, haunted places or a practitioner’s wares |
| Vampirism | Night | Raise corruption through feeding to reach further vampire abilities |
The official Skills & Power bulletin confirms that points earned during the day can be spent on vampire skills. There is no separate nighttime XP bar that you must fill from scratch. The day and night guide explains which powers each phase makes available.
Why did a manual not give me the skill?
A manual and a skill point solve different requirements. The manual makes knowledge available; points pay for learning or improving it. Fextralife’s new-player reference also distinguishes learned abilities from the abilities placed in your quick slots.
Use this checklist when a technique is not usable:
- Read the node’s knowledge or corruption requirement.
- Check whether it is available to learn or already learned.
- Review the skill-point and hourglass cost shown by that node.
- For an active ability, check the loadout for the current phase.
- In combat, check the required resource rather than assuming learning made it free.
This separates acquisition, learning, equipment and activation. It is more useful than buying another manual without first identifying the missing step.
Do upgrades use the 30-day clock?
The developer describes both skill points and time as progression resources. Read the displayed cost before confirming study or an upgrade. The time-limit reference explains the hourglass system; ordinary exploration and a marked learning action have different consequences.
Plan for both forms
Fextralife documents separate day and night equipment sets and ability quick slots. Inspect both after learning something new. A daytime spell and a nighttime vampire power should not be treated as interchangeable just because their points came from the same pool.
For what those abilities spend during a fight, continue to the combat resource table. For how feeding connects to progression, read blood hunger and corruption.
